Chris Pine Confirms He Will Team Up with Wonder Woman in Solo Film
It was previously confirmed that Star Trek's Chris Pine was in talks to co-star as Steve Trevor in the Wonder Woman solo movie. Now, Pine has confirmed that the negotiations are completed, and he will officially co-star in the upcoming DCEU film alongside Gal Godot.

Opening quote
"I do not really know what I'm allowed to tell you," he told French website Premiere when asked about the project (translation via Batman News). "I'm super excited, of course, Gal Gadot is super talented, Patty Jenkins will direct, and we will shoot in film … What excites me most is to work in a movie with a superhero woman. With a woman in the lead role. I am teamed with this intelligent, beautiful and strong woman to defeat the villains and save humanity."
Closing quote

He couldn't say much, because Warner Bros. would probably have him killed if he gave away any real spoilers. But he did reveal that director Patty Jenkins (Monster) is shooting on film, which is somewhat unusual for a superhero film (although David Ayer is doing the same for Suicide Squad). Jenkins is a talented director, so hopefully this means she's being given some creative freedom.

It's also somewhat surprising that Pine describes himself as "teaming" with Wonder Woman, when the character is known primarily as a love interest. In the comics, World War II pilot Steve Trevor meets Diana when his plane crashes and she saves his life, establishing a dynamic in which he often finds himself in peril and Wonder Woman saves him. Considering that this will be the first female-led superhero movie in the modern MCU/DCEU era, we hope they'll maintain this gender-swapped play on the "damsel in distress" trope.

Wonder Woman is set to come out in theaters on June 23, 2017.
