Marvel's Extraordinary X-Men Will Bring Back a Long-Dead Classic Character
As we all know, death doesn't really mean death in the comic book universe. But some characters do stay dead for a long period of time, and one of those characters is about to make a comeback to Marvel Comics in a big way. In the newest issue of Extraordinary X-Men, Marvel is bringing back the long-dead Professor X:

Professor X Comes Back to Life

Professor X has been dead for three years, which is an unusually long time for such a popular character. He was killed by Cyclops while the latter was bonded with the Phoenix Force, and has only been seen in spirit of fragment-of-psyche form since then. Now, Marvel is effectively rebooting their comics universe after Secret Wars, which means they can pretty much bring Professor X back seamlessly.

Hopefully this is good news for X-Men fans, as Marvel has introduced a huge threat to the fate of mutantkind at large in the new series, and many have speculated that they're killing off mutants and backing away from the X-Men in favor of their cinematic properties, such as the Inhumans. But with Xavier back on their side, they might have a better chance of fending off the existential threat.

Extraordinary X-Men #1 comes out in comic book stores on November 4.
