Six Million Dollar Man to Be Rebooted as Mark Wahlberg Movie
< >
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-naaaa! If you recognize that sound effect, then you were probably a fan of the '70s TV show The Six Million Dollar Man. If so, then today's your lucky day (or your worst nightmare) because the franchise is getting a reboot as a movie starring Mark Wahlberg.

The original series starred Lee Majors as astronaut Steve Austin, who after being injured in a crash landing is rebuilt as a cyborg by the U.S. Government, becoming a super-powered six million dollar man. Wahlberg's new film will be titled The Six Billion Dollar Man because apparently you can't get much for six mil these days.

The new movie already has a release date, and it's set to hit theaters on December 22, 2017. Here's the official synopsis from the studio:

Opening quote
"The Six Billion Dollar Man is based on the classic television series The Six Million Dollar Man and the novel Cyborg by Martin Caidin. The story follows military officer, Steve Austin, who becomes part of a top secret government program after a horrific accident leaves him near death. With the help of cutting edge technology, Steve is brought back to life with extraordinary abilities, making him the world's first truly bionic man."
Closing quote

Sounds enough like the original, but we're guessing it will be based in Boston because, you know, Wahlberg. It's hard to say what the market will be for the movie though, since a reboot of the original series' spinoff, The Bionic Woman, didn't due so great when it aired on NBC in 2007. That version of the show lasted only eight episodes before being cancelled, so hopefully the new film fares a little better. If not, there's always Caddyshack.
