Fox News Bashes Star Wars and Its Fans, Because of Course They Did
Oh Fox news. Not content with inciting rage within their normal realms, they've gone and aimed their angry crosshairs at Star Wars and its fans. Yes, Star Wars, a movie franchise that is adored by millions and whose most harmful act was creating Jar Jar Binks. It doesn't seem like the kind of subject that warrants a 5 minute hate segment,  but where there's a will there's a way. Fox's unique angle on their Star Wars bashing came by taking offense at the fact that, brace yourself, people are excited enough to see it and are therefore buying tickets in advance!

During a recent episode of Your World with Neil Cavuto, the show's host was joined by fellow Fox News anchor Carley Shimkus and Star Wars fan Mike Gunzelman. While none of them covered themselves in glory (Gunzelman, a so called Star Wars fan, said he thought Harrison Ford was dead!), Shimkus was particularly irksome as she went about belittling the passion fans have for the Star Wars franchise. Prepare for your palm to meet your face, because this is nauseating.

In between making patronising comments like "I respect your little love for this movie", Shimkus vented her anger at the Star Wars fans who crashed movie ticketing sites like Fandango.

Opening quote
"People go online and buy tickets two months in advance, who will ruin the experience for people like you and me who are normal movie watchers."
Closing quote

Sorry, Ms. Shimkus but it doesn't really sound like you're actually that keen to watch this movie, so why are you so concerned about us ruining it for you? After all, you just said that the writing is crappy and that the stories don't make any sense. Also, why would you think that we would all go out and ruin it for everyone anyway?

It's all painfully ignorant, with Cavuto asking why they don't redesign the Lightsabers before saying "But again, I'm not really into this whole thing, especially when I found out Fox has nothing to do with it."

You're not into this whole thing, but you're willing to dedicate a significant portion of your show to talking about it?

You don't even have to be a major fan of Star Wars to recognize that this is Fox News just trying to take a cheap shot at something that was causing waves in the entertainment industry. I'm all for people enjoying what they enjoy, but don't hate on people for getting excited about a new addition to a franchise they've loved for decades.
