What the New Plot Synopsis For Batman v Superman Tells Us About The Big Showdown
Not long ago, a new plot synopsis for Batman v Superman was released by a U.K. theater chain called Odeon Cinemas, and it could give greater insight into the biggest superhero throw down of 2016:

Opening quote
At long last, see Batman and Superman square off against each other in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, an epic superhero showdown which will change both their lives forever. Clark Kent doesn't trust Gotham's mysterious masked vigilante. Bruce Wayne doesn't trust the alien who nearly destroyed Metropolis. And Lex Luthor, who hates Superman more than anyone, is manipulating both of them for his own twisted ends. Choose your side: the Man of Steel or the Dark Knight? Learn the answer to the age-old question - who would win? - in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Not a whole lot is stated that fans haven't already been able to deduce from the trailer, but it's still cool to see the premise for the film stated in this sort of fashion. Perhaps the most interesting takeaway from the synopsis is Luthor's involvement in the fight between Supes and Batman. It was clear from the beginning that Lex would be a major player in the film, and with those shots of him looking at the Kryptonite, it was widely believed by many fans that he would primarily involved in getting Batman to fight Superman. Now it's confirmed: Lex Luthor will indeed play a key role in having these two superheroes go toe to toe.

This idea for this plot device was no doubt inspired by Brian Azzarello's comic series, 'Lex Luthor: Man of Steel.' In it, Lex sits down with fellow billionaire Bruce Wayne to discuss the potential threat that is Superman. Knowing his secret identity, Luthor gives Bruce some Kryptonite and puts the idea in his head that Superman can't be trusted. Could this possibly be how Lex 'manipulates' Batman in the film, too?

The DCEU is clearly utilizing a ton of different ideas from the source material, and many of them have come straight from the mind of Brian Azzarello. For instance, the idea of the Joker being a modern criminal with a henchman named Johnny Frost originated in his comic series, 'The Joker.' Likewise, it's been reported that Wonder Woman will be using her New 52 origin story, which was created by Azzarello. Just as well, the idea of Superman talking to a priest in his time of distress in Man of Steel was taken straight out of the pages of Brian's 'Superman: For Tomorrow.' So it's not a stretch to believe that they'll be using yet another idea of his when it comes to Lex's involvement in Batman v Superman.

With all of comic book fandom's favorite heroes coming to life on the big screen in the next few years, it truly is an exciting time to be a comic fan. Having directors, screenwriters, and other creators who know their comics and frequently make use of such amazing source material is simply icing on the cake.

Only 140 days left until Batman v Superman hits theatres on March 25th, 2016.
