Is Adam McKay Returning For Ant-Man and the Wasp?
After the turmoil surrounding Marvel's Ant-Man after writer/director Edgar Wright's exit, it's amazing that the movie turned out to be as good as it did. Ant-Man was a charming, genre-bending movie, and it made enough money (over half a billion, but who's counting?) for Disney to grant the film a surprise sequel in Ant-Man and the Wasp, due out in 2018. One of the things that made Ant-Man so enjoyable was definitely comedian Adam McKay, who rewrote the script after Wright's exit. But is McKay returning to work on the sequel?

Maybe, though nothing is official yet. The Anchorman director is certainly interested in returning to the House of Ideas, but he hasn't had any talks with Marvel about it. He tells The Hollywood Reporter:

Opening quote
"I was talking to [Paul] Rudd about it the other day. We'll see what happens, but that would certainly be fun. I loved working with Marvel. And I have a couple of projects in development. One of them is more dramatic, one's more comedy, still with a little bit of political teeth to it. And there's a TV show idea I've been kicking around."
Closing quote

OK, so it sounds like he's busy, but the important thing is that he's interested. And, he's even spoken to Scott Lang himself about it, so who knows? At this point it seems like a scheduling issue where if McKay has the time he'll probably work on Ant-Man and the Wasp, and if he doesn't then he won't. Here's hoping that he does, because we need more scenes set in a Baskin Robbins.
