Star Wars: The Force Awakens Breaks Pre-Sale Records at Over $50 Million
Star Wars: The Force Awakens doesn't come out for another month, but it's already breaking records. The sequel just surpassed $50 million in pre-order ticket sales, making it the biggest advance seller in history, beating out the first Hunger Games film, according to both Fandango and Movietickets.com.

Box office analysts were already predicting that The Force Awakens will achieve the biggest opening of all time, and this new piece of news certainly seems to point in that direction. It is projected to make up to $215 million, beating out Jurassic World's record of $208 million. This would be an amazing feat, as it would set a world record in a notoriously light box office month; as of now, the largest December opening was The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey at a mere $84.6 million. At the very, very least, The Force Awakens is definitely set to beat that.

If you're still looking to see the film on opening weekend and haven't bought tickets, all hope is not lost (yet). While most IMAX screenings are sold out, other showings are still selling tickets that weekend, and theaters keep adding more showings to keep up with demand. But you would do well to buy your tickets soon, because these additional showings probably won't be available for very long.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on December 18.
