Andy Serkis Invites You to Enter to Be an Ape in "War for the Planet of the Apes"
Earlier this week, director Matt Reeves teased a "big announcement" from War for the Planet of the Apes during The Walking Dead last night, and many hoped it was the first teaser. But considering that they only started filming in late October, it's a little early for that. The first look revealed a tiny, tiny bit of behind-the-scenes footage, but mostly advertised a contest for becoming an ape extra in the sequel:

In the video, Matt Reeves and motion capture legend Andy Serkis introduce a contest for Planet of the Apes fans to submit their "most lifelike ape imitation" to the hilariously named ApeContest.comThe winner will get to be an extra in War for the Planet of the Apes, probably in a large battle scene. They'll be flown out to set and dressed up in a motion capture suit like Serkis's.

The contest parameters are relatively simple; just upload a 30-second video to Youtube in English (although I'm not sure how much you'll be talking rather than grunting), and hope that this isn't just an elaborate ploy to get everyone to embarrass themselves on video.

War for the Planet of the Apes is slated for release on July 14, 2017.
