Here's the One Thing You Need to Know About that Batman v Superman Sneak Peek
Possible Batman v Superman spoilers ahead!
Last night, a new Batman v Superman teaser aired during Gotham's fall finale, and it seemed to imply that Superman becomes some kind of villain, flanked by a bunch of Nazi-like commandos and wearing an over-the-top "angry face." It seemed a little far-fetched, even considering the DCEU's "gritty" aesthetic, that the boy scout of the DC Universe would become high on his own power and reveal Batman's identity. Luckily, it seems like none of this actually happens in the movie at all, as Batman is wearing the suit that was termed the "Knightmare Batman" in a toy revealed at NYCC:
So considering that Batman is called "Knightmare Batman" ... do you think that actually happens? pic.twitter.com/G0v4xKdNMk— Da7e Gonzales (@Da7e) December 1, 2015
It seems very likely that this teaser is part of a dream sequence. Even just watching the teaser itself, it seems a little too melodramatic and on-the-nose to be real. If that's the case, then this is a really long dream sequence, considering that there's an entire capture scene in the desert that can be seen in the first trailer. It seems a little cheap to not only have such a long and substantive dream sequence, but to use it as a teaser. It's like that mysterious woman in the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, or the entire Insurgent marketing campaign; it's a tease, but not in a good way.
Batman v Superman comes out in theaters on March 25, 2016.
