Tom Holland Confirms Spider-Man Has a Secret Identity in the MCU
For quite some time we've been wondering just what Spider-Man's role will be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). After all, he's considerably younger than the other heroes we know, and the character is very well-known for having a secret identity. But since none of the MCU's heroes have kept their identities a secret so far, does that mean neither will Spider-Man?

Nope. During a press junket for his new film Heart of the Sea, Holland confirmed that the MCU version of Spidey will indeed have a secret identity - and he'll be the only hero to have one.

Opening quote
"I think one of the most interesting things about Peter Parker for us is that he's the only person in the MCU now that has a secret identity, so we all know who everyone else is... I think it's quite interesting to go back to that hiding behind a mask."
Closing quote

Since Holland is talking about his own solo Spider-Man film, he's pretty much debunking the theory that Peter Parker will unmask himself in Captain America: Civil War like he did in the "Civil War" comics storyline. Which is a good thing, because doing away with the character's iconic secret identity in his first appearance feels like it would have been a major mistake.

Holland also confirmed that the new Spider-Man film will be shooting in Atlanta, leading to speculation that Iron Man and Captain America could appear in the movie, since Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live last week that they're heading to the Georgia city to shoot something together.

Holland's debut in the MCU will of course be in Civil War, and even though he's not in the trailer, we're going to show it here anyway because it's just that good.
