LucasFilm Might Still Revive George Lucas's Star Wars: 1313 Video Game and Underworld TV Show
It's no secret that LucasFilm are looking to rapidly expand the Star Wars franchise under the supervision of Disney. We've already learnt that they will release a new movie every year until long after we're dead, but we'd be foolish to think this expansion will be limited to the big screen. The studio has made no bones about their intention to create new TV shows and video games, and according to SlashFilm's Peter Sciretta, two original ideas from the George Lucas era could be involved in an exciting period for Star Wars fans.

Before the Disney take-over, George Lucas had been beavering away developing an expansive TV Show concept called Star Wars: Underworld. Planned back in the early 2000's, Underworld was going to explore the depths of Coruscant and its many and varied crime syndicates. There were rumors that Lucas had a whopping 100 episodes written by the time the Disney takeover went through, but Lucas had previously said that he hoped the show would run for around four times that. In terms of Underworld's place in Star Wars Canon, it would probably slide in somewhere between Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Rebels, filling in the gap between the Prequel and Original trilogies.

While Underworld certainly got a lot of people jazzed back in 2005, it was second best in the excitement stakes. Just before the Disney takeover, LucasArts were working on a huge video game set in the same Coruscant environment as Star Wars: Underworld. The key difference? The video game would allow players to explore the formative years of Boba Fett, one of the most-beloved characters the franchise has ever created. LucasArts were so far down the line with their 1313 project that they even unveiled gameplay after it was announced E3 in 2012.

When Sciretta asked Kennedy about the potential for reviving Star Wars: Underworld at last weekend's Press event, her response was one that will give Star Wars fans across the world a great deal of hope.

Opening quote
No. No, interestingly enough, thats an area we've spent a lot of time, reading through the material that he developed is something we very much would like to explore. And there was 1313 the game, where there was…
Closing quote

Sciretta then mentioned that glorious 1313 concept art (a piece of which you can see up top) before Kennedy responded thusly...

Opening quote
Unbelievable. So our attitude is, we don't want to throw any of that stuff away. It's gold. And it's something we're spending a lot of time looking at, pouring through, discussing, and we may very well develop those things further. We definitely want to.
Closing quote

This is exciting news on a number of levels. Not only does it mean we may get a video game that, quite frankly sounded fantastic, but the fact that Kennedy and her team are exploring the possibility of reviving old projects means that we may eventually get to play that Darth Maul video game that was so cruelly snatched from us.
