Find Hope in the Impossible in the First Trailer for Star Trek Beyond
After leaking online in German, the official English teaser trailer for Star Trek Beyond is finally here, and it's just as action-packed as you'd expect from a Fast and Furious director:

To be perfectly honest, the dialogue doesn't add all that much, but I suppose it doesn't need to. It looks like a perfectly serviceable action blockbuster, with elaborate action set pieces, some cheeky self-awareness, and a cool new character in Sofia Boutella's mysterious alien, whose distinctive fighting style is already fun to watch. The most notable addition from the dialogue is the notion of "finding hope in the impossible," which sounds a little like that How I Met Your Mother episode in which they just mashed up inspirational words to seem legitimate, but also may confirm that they're getting back to the optimism of the television series. Simon Pegg recently promised the film would return to the "optimism" and "frontierism" of the small screen version, but the frontier is apparently "fighting back," so it's still an action movie at its core.

The Star Trek Beyond trailer will play in front of Star Wars: The Force Awakens this weekend, and the film itself comes out on July 22, 2016.
