18 Lines that Get to the Heart of the Jessica Jones Character
There are a million things to love about Jessica Jones, not the least of which is its penchant for amazing one-liners. But not only were the lines clever and funny, they often served as thesis statements for the groundbreaking, bad-ass, multi-layered main character we've all come to love. Here are the most Jessica Jones-ish lines from Jessica Jones.
She's a hard-drinking, short-fused mess of a woman
"Would you put day drinking under experience or special abilities?"

"It's called whiskey."

"I don't get asked on a lot of second dates."

She's domestic
"We both know you don't own a vacuum cleaner"

"That and jogging, two things that make me feel like crap."

"Breeders."

She's warm

"I don't give a bag of d*cks what kinky sh*t you're into. Just be into it quietly."

"You use sarcasm to distance people." "And yet you're still here."

"I wish I had a mother-of-the-year award so I could bludgeon you with it."

"You said, 'Let's do lunch.' You hate that saying." "Because it's stupid. You EAT lunch."

"Laser eyes. Moron."

She's a feminist
"I don't flirt, I just say what I want."

"It's called rape."

She's tough
"I can't get her to wear a dress for the life of me." "I'll wear one to your funeral."

"Oh, trying-to-make-an-effort Jessica." "More like trying to make a shit situation tolerable."

"You take your Goddamned pain and you live with it, assholes!"

It's worth reproducing this entire speech, because it gets to the core of the Jessica character. Even though some of her coping mechanisms are dubious at best, she always takes responsibility for dealing with her own pain, even if she does it badly, which is exactly what separates her from entitled villains like Kilgrave and Simpson.

She's a hero
"Doing something good... It helps with the self-loathing, trust me."

She wasn't a traditional hero, but ultimately she always comes through and helps people. She may be messed up and filled with self-loathing, but if that drives her to be altruistic and a productive member of society, there are worse things.
And as a bonus, here are some of the best lines from characters who aren't Jessica:
"I have a conscience. It's just more selective."

Hey, last night was fun, but that doesn't mean I want your opinion."

"I may be new to love, but I know what it looks like. I do watch television."

"Men and power, it's seriously a disease."

"Was Murdercorpse already taken?"

"I forgive you. And I'll say it every day for as long as you need to hear it."
