You Can Soon Use the Force to Control Your BB-8
Of all the merchandise to come out of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (and there's been a ton), the coolest without a doubt would have to be Sphero's smartphone-controlled BB-8. The little droid looks and behaves almost exactly as he does in the film, albeit in a smaller package, making him a very advanced - and very awesome - toy. And now we've learned the device will soon become even better, as Sphero is working on a way to allow BB-8 owners to control their droid by using the Force... or close to it, anyway.

At CES, Sphero introduced their Force Band, a wristband device set to be released this fall. The band tracks the wearer's movements to allow them to tell BB-8 where to go simply by making gestures with their hand. The effect is one that makes it appear as if the user is controlling the droid simply by using the power of the Force, and it's pretty amazing.

The device is still in the early stages, meaning the design and usage of the final product could be very different than what we're seeing here, but so far it looks like the Force Band is off to a great start. Seriously, when Disney first announced they were making Episode VII, did anyone ever think they'd be Force-pushing an actual droid in their house soon after?

Forget a galaxy far, far away, we're living in the future.
