Here's What Ms. Marvel Would Say to Donald Trump
The name Donald Trump is becoming synonymous with anti-Muslim, anti-immigration sentiment (not to mention the belief that Paris is in Germany), so what would Kamala Khan, the fan favorite Pakistani-American teenage superhero say to him if they ever crossed paths? Sana Amanat, Marvel's director of content and character development, gave her answer on this week's Late Night with Seth Meyers:

Opening quote
"The first thing that she would say is, you're doing such irreparable damage to young Americans, and minorities everywhere," said Amanat. "Words and images are very powerful, and these young kids are actually having a perception of themselves that [is] not true, and that's so dangerous. And then she'd probably remind him that his grandfather was an immigrant, I believe, and if he had the same type of vitriolic sentiment […] thrown at him, Trump would not have the opportunities that he would have or the successes that he would have. And then she would probably fly off with the Avengers and save the world from actual bad guys, and prove him wrong about who Muslims really are."

This is a wonderful extemporaneous answer, and an illustration of how important characters like Kamala Khan are for increasing tolerance towards marginalized groups. Case in point: Meyers and Amanat went on to discuss the conspiracy theory that Ms. Marvel was created as a terrorist recruiting tool.

Opening quote
"The 'nefarious plan' is that I infiltrated the government via Marvel Comics to push the Muslim Brotherhood's of propagating Islamic sharia law within the land," Amanat told Meyes, and then joked, "If you touch the comic, you do become Muslim."
