New Arrow Set Pictures Reveal Felicity's Spoiler-y Fate
Spoilers for Arrow season 4 follow!
In the midseason finale of Arrow, fan favorite Felicity Smoak was shot and seemingly killed by the Ghosts right after she and Oliver got engaged. Fans have been waiting on tenterhooks to find out if she's still alive, especially since Oliver was seen mourning over a grave in the season premiere, and now we have our answer,
thanks to set photos from celebrity writer Canadagraphs.
Here's a little more room to get out if you don't want to be spoiled.
As many fans predicted, Felicity isn't dead, but has been confined to a wheelchair, most likely as the beginning of her transformation into the DC Comics superhero Oracle. In the comics, Oracle is the alter-ego of Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl, after the Joker maimed her in The Killing Joke. Oracle has been hailed as a great example of a disabled superhero, as she used her intelligence and hacking skills to provide intel to superheroes and trained with a martial artist to fight from her wheelchair with her upper body and weapons. In spite of the difference in identity, Felicity has seemed poised to become Oracle for quite a while now, as she has been established as an expert hacker, not to mention that her origin story episode from last season, "The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak," was originally titled "Oracle."
This should not only be a great development in its own right, but could lead to bigger and better things in the future. In the comics, Oracle teams up with Black Canary to form the Birds of Prey, and are ultimately joined by Huntress. So is it possible that we'll see Felicity, Laurel, and Helena form a superhero coalition in the near future? We'll have to wait and see.
Arrow returns with new episodes on January 20th at 8pm ET on The CW.
