Paramount Officially Pulls Terminator 2 From Its Schedule
< >
There will be no sequel to last year's Terminator Genisys. That's the word from Paramount who revealed today that they have pulled the slated movie from its schedule.

The sequel was scheduled for release on May 19th 2017, but the studio today revealed that their planned Baywatch movie will take its place.

While not a complete financial flop, Genisys was widely panned by critics and fans of the franchise alike. Taking $440m at the global box office, Genisys dragged in a measly $90m domestically, a fact that no doubt caused this change in tune. Initially, Paramount had slated two sequels: 'Terminator 2' and 'Terminator 3' for dates in 2017 and 2018, but clearly the studio has decided further expansion of the franchise is not viable.

Struggling with a flawed storyline, Terminator: Genisys failed to capitalize on a return to form by original star Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's wildly complicated chronology was one of many issues, but for many, it was the reveal of the movie's big twist in the promotional material that really rankled. While it wasn't all bad (who doesn't like watching Old-Arnie fight Young-Arnie), this latest move by Paramount does not come as a huge surprise.
