Return to Pegasus with a New Stargate Atlantis Comic Series
Stargate Atlantis left off on a tantalizing note, with the city-ship landing on Earth right next to the San Francisco Bridge. It served as a fine ending to the series, but many of us were hoping that the story would be continued with the planned follow-up movie, Stargate: Extinction. Unfortunately, that film is still in development hell, but now we'll get to see what Ronan, McKay, Sheppard, and Teyla are up to in a new comics continuation from American Mythology.

Stargate Atlantis

This is wonderful news, as Stargate Atlantis was an extremely underrated show. SG-1 lasted longer and is more often considered a classic of the genre, but Atlantis had a terrifying villain in the form of the Wraith, consistently lovable characters (including a pre-Game of Thrones Jason Momoa as Ronan), and at its best was a complex exploration of governmental response to a crisis. We would have preferred a movie, or better yet, more seasons of the TV show, but this is pretty good, too.

The series will be written by Mark L. Haynes and J.C. Vaughn, best known for his work on 24, and illustrated by Greg LaRocque, best known for Flash Return of Barry Allen. It's unclear whether the comics will be using the planned storylines from Stargate: Extinction, or even whether it will take place during or after the series, especially since Ford is apparently re-joining the team. Ford died relatively early on in the series, so it's possible there will be more standalone stories from the early seasons, but this is sci-fi, so I suppose they can always bring him back.
