The Title for Star Wars Rebels' Hour-Long Season 2 Finale Teases the Moment We All Fear
< >
While many of us have been with it from the very start, the introduction of Ahsoka Tano has seen many Star Wars fans taking more of an interest in Dave Filoni's animated show, Star Wars Rebels. The one-time apprentice of Anakin Skywalker made her name during Filoni's previous show, Star Wars: Clone Wars, and is now regarded as one of the best characters the franchise has ever created.

However, Ahsoka's introduction to the Rebels universe also brought with it the realization that she would be destined for a confrontation with her ex-Jedi Master. As exciting as such a confrontation will be, we also know that only one of the two is guaranteed to emerge from it alive. We all know that Darth Vader doesn't perish at this point in the Star Wars Timeline, which leads us to believe that 'Snips' stands a good chance of meeting a brutally poetic end at the hand of her old master.

Dave Filoni has already confirmed that the pair will clash at some point during Season 2, but now the episode titles for the show's season finale have been revealed, giving us the best indication yet that what our fears were valid. Uncovered by German fan site Jedi Bibliothek, the final few episode titles are as follows:

Opening quote
2 × 18 "Shroud of Darkness" - March 2, 2016

2 × 19 "The Forgotten Droid"  -  March 16, 2016

2 × 20 "The Mystery of Chopper Base" - March 23, 2016

2 × 21 "Twilight of the Apprentice: Part I" - March 30, 2016

2 × 22 "Twilight of the Apprentice: Part II" - March 30, 2016
Closing quote

The good news is that the Season 2 finale will come in the form of an hour-long double header, the bad news is that 'Twilight of the Apprentice' doesn't exactly instil a lot of faith that Snips is going to make it out of this one alive.

Still, this isn't to say that Ahsoka's fate is sealed. Personally, I'm still holding out (somewhat hopefully) that the goodness buried deep inside Vader will see the Dark Lord spare his old apprentice's life. As far as we know, this will be one of the first major experiences to remind Vader of his past life, so it's perfectly plausible that he will experience some serious internal conflict.

Because I'm not willing to believe that Ahsoka really is going to depart after just one season on the show, here are some other explanations for the finale's title.

- Kanan is actually the apprentice (like Ahsoka, he never actually graduated from the rank of apprentice) and he will meet his end rescuing Ahsoka from Vader, leaving her to mentor Ezra.

- The title actually refers to Ezra's graduation from apprentice to Jedi Knight

- The title still refers to Ezra, but we see him turned to the Dark Side by Maul who seeks to once more overthrow Palpatine

Away from the finale, another highlight of these episode titles is 'Shroud of Darkness', which could well refer to the re-introduction of Darth Maul. Maul's surprise introduction into the Rebels series is teased in the midseason trailer, which you can watch below.

The next Star Wars Rebels episode, 'The Call' airs tonight at 9pm on Disney XD.
