The X-Files Series Finale Photos Tease the Return of Reyes, But Where's Mulder?
The X-Files finale is airing on Monday, and depending on everyone's future plans, this might be the last we see of the franchise. Now, new images from the final episode preview the return of Annabeth Gish as Agent Monica Reyes, as well as more hijinks with Mulder and Scully clones Miller and Einstein, played by Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose.
Reyes was a regular in the final two seasons, in the post-Mulder era of the original series. So naturally, her character was underwhelming, but that wasn't Gish's fault, so it might be nice and nostalgic to see her for a guest spot. Last we saw her, she and Doggett (Robert Patrick, who's busy starring in Scorpion) were fleeing the scene after the Smoking Man's hideaway was destroyed in the series finale, so it remains to be seen whether she's still with the FBI.
But here's the real question: where the hell is Mulder? None of the promotional images feature David Duchovny, even though there are quite a few of them, which makes it seem like he might be out of commission for part of the final episode, unless that's him unconscious with Agent Miller?
Speaking of Miller, the baby agents are shown a ton, so I guess they're not a one-off like we were hoping. This makes us even more concerned about a potential X-Files: The Next Generation.
The series finale of The X-Files, "My Struggle pt II," will air on Monday at 8pm on Fox. You can watch the first two minutes here, but be prepared to be thoroughly creeped out.
