The Walking Dead: Greg Nicotero Confirms What Morgan Is Building in Alexandria
At the end of last week's episode of The Walking Dead, "Not Tomorrow Yet," Morgan the pacifist stayed home from that insanely unethical attack on the Saviors and was seen doing some kind of construction project. Many fans, especially those who are familiar with the comics, guessed that he was building a jail cell, and now that theory has been officially confirmed by executive producer Greg Nicotero.

Opening quote
"Yes. He's building a cell," Nicotero told Yahoo! TV. "The jail cell that they had wasn't necessarily much of a jail cell. It was like a little room with a little metal gate. I think Morgan is committed to the next time they have somebody in there, if they need to, they'll attempt to rehabilitate them. He wants to be equipped. It goes back to his story with Eastman. Let's be honest, Jesus didn't last very long in that place. It can't be that secure."

It makes sense that Morgan wants to build a jail cell considering his newfound pacifism, because that's the only way to deal with certain people in the apocalypse without killing them. But the jail cell also has special significance in light of Negan's impending arrival; in the comics, Negan is still alive and is incarcerated in a jail cell, after Rick decided to be merciful and allow him to live. After last week's episode, the group could use a little bit more mercy, so I imagine that Negan will eventually occupy Morgan's DIY project (but not before one of our favorite characters meets Lucille).
