What Does Steven Yeun's New Movie Mean for The Walking Dead?
Possible spoilers for The Walking Dead season 6 ahead!
Steven Yeun was just cast as the star of an action movie, Mayhem, co-starring Ash vs Evil Dead's Samara Weaving. Considering that many are speculating Glenn's days on The Walking Dead are numbered, what does this casting mean for our favorite former pizza delivery boy?
In short, there's a chance it could mean nothing, but it doesn't look good. According to Variety, the film is set to begin principal photography later this month in Belgrade, Serbia. The Walking Dead hasn't started filming season seven yet, so technically he could do both, but the cast generally returns to the set around mid-April, and at absolute latest the first week of May, as that's when they begin filming. Even if Yeun were to come back just in time for May, that doesn't give him a lot of time to film this movie. If he were a supporting character, that would make more sense, but considering that he's the star, he's cutting it very, very close, if he's going to make it back at all.
There's also a chance that AMC has worked out Yeun's schedule, especially considering that the same company that's producing the movie also produces The Walking Dead. But still, it looks fairly ominous, as this is the first major film project Yeun has done since starting The Walking Dead. That could just mean that his career is taking off (which would make us very happy), but it could also mean that Glenn is going to be the one to meet Lucille, after all.
