Telltale Games Says The Walking Dead Season 3 Will Drop Sometime Later This Year
It looks like things are shaping up to be a pretty big year for Telltale Games. They're currently in the midst of releasing the episodes to their miniseries, The Walking Dead: Michonne, and their very first Batman game is scheduled for a summer release. Now they've just announced that The Walking Dead: Season 3 is finally on its way as well, with the first episode set to drop sometime before the end of 2016.

Telltale's Walking Dead series has definitely garnered critical acclaim, though most fans seem to favor the first season over the second. The games stay true to the theme of Kirkman's comics, as it focuses very little on actually killing zombies, and more on the choices the characters' make and the consequences they face for them in the apocalypse.

Here's what IGN had to say about the upcoming season, and it's definitely enough to make fans wonder what exactly the team's going for with the newest season:

Opening quote
Telltale CEO Kevin Bruner says the new series will take an 'unexpected' approach to tying together previous stories. He specified that it wouldn't be from 'the bag of tricks that we've ever shown anybody before.'
Closing quote

You have to wonder after these comments whether or not they'll be continuing their story with Clementine, who was the protagonist of season 2 and one of the focal characters of season 1. If this is the case, why they'd call it season 3 instead of something else would definitely be a mystery.

Either way, Telltale is a unique company with unique games and a unique vision, and it'll be really exciting to see what they're able to do as they continue to produce their games. Fans still await The Wolf Among Us season 2, and it'll be really interesting to see what they do with Batman. They've also announced that they hope to do a Marvel game at some point as well, and that should definitely be equally as intriguing.

The Walking Dead: Michonne has been a lot of fun so far, and it's proven to be an improvement of some of the things in earlier Telltale games. Hopefully, that trend continues and Telltale's narrative and episodic based series will continue to be a hit with critics and players alike.
