This Avenger Is Confirmed to Live Through Captain America: Civil War
Spoilers for Captain America: Civil War follow!
Some fans have already seen Captain America: Civil War already, but for the most part, people have been pretty good about spoilers. The same can't quite be said for co-director Joe Russo, however, as he just gave away that one Avenger who was rumored to die will, in fact, live to see Infinity War:
In the press conference with Clevver Movies, Russo commented on Scarlet Witch's arc and confirmed that she will appear in Infinity War, which seems to confirm that she will live through the epic superhero battle in Civil War:
"She is on a growth arc, and it is part of her development. It is very tricky with powerful characters, because unless they have an internal struggle or a flaw that limits them then they do become limitless, and the storytelling becomes muddled and not very interesting. You know she could've stopped that fight at the airport in 5 seconds if she were at the peak of her powers, so it really has to do her character specifically going on a journey to understand what the limits of her powers are. She makes a mistake very early in the movie that sets her back, and we'll get to see where she goes in Infinity War."
I don't know about you, but this comes as a huge relief. There have been pervasive rumors that one Avenger (other than the obvious one who dies at the end of the comics) will die in Civil War. A previous report claimed that it would be one of Scarlet Witch, Falcon, or War Machine, and while we're not rooting for either of the others, we would be completely disappointed if Scarlet Witch was killed off before she got to explore her canonical relationship with Vision, or before she gets her own movie.
Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, while Avengers: Infinity War pt 1 comes out on May 4, 2018, with pt 2 coming out on May 3, 2019.
