Pearl Mackie is Officially the Next Companion of Doctor Who
Pearl Mackie has just been officially confirmed as an earthling named Bill, the next companion of the Doctor, during the half time of the FA Cup semi-final match between Everton and Manchester United.

Mackie was one of the actresses that has been rumored to be the next companion for a while, and many took it as a sure sign that she'd be the next to set foot on the TARDIS when she simultaneously followed Jenna Coleman, who played Clara, and Freeman Agyeman, who played Martha, on Twitter recently. It looks like those fans' suspicions were right, as Mackie will join Peter Capaldi as they go on their adventures throughout time and space.

Mackie hasn't starred in too much, but nevertheless she has acted in a few films, TV shows, and theater productions. She's currently working in the National Theatre's West End production of 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time.'

It'll be interesting to see how her character comes into contact with the Time Lord we all know and love, and what new dynamic she can bring to the show following Clara's recent departure.

Series 10 is set to debut in 2017, after which show runner Steven Moffat will step down, allowing Chris Chibnall to take over. It is still unknown whether Capaldi and Mackie will stay on following Moffat's departure.
