That Rumored Star Wars: Episode VIII Title Is Probably Fake
Possible spoilers for Star Wars: Episode VIII ahead! (But probably not.)
Star Wars has a more active rumor mill than almost any other franchise out there, which means a lot of the early rumors turn out to be completely fake. Case in point: a supposed title for the next film in the new trilogy has been making the internet rounds, but there's almost no chance that it's real.
The rumor comes from a Reddit user, who posted a video that appears to reveal a Star Wars Celebration poster with the new title on it: Star Wars: Fall of the Resistance.
I have to admit, I sort of like that title (more than The Force Awakens, actually), but this is probably not real. The original Reddit thread is already marked "Potential BS," and most importantly, this was supposedly taken by a "Celebration staff member," but Celebration isn't happening until July. I suppose it's possible that they're already getting the materials ready, but in that case, they probably wouldn't keep such a huge leak in seemingly a public place. So I almost hope this is real, but it probably isn't.
Star Wars: Episode VIII hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
