Marvel Just Did the Unthinkable in Captain America: Steve Rogers #1
For as long as we all can recall, Steve Rogers has been a bastion of all that is good in the Marvel comics universe. For better or worse, the man who took up the Captain America mantle has always been steadfast in his drive to do what's right, but in a new series released today, Marvel just did something unthinkable with one of their most beloved characters.

Spoilers for Marvel's Captain America: Steve Rogers #1

Marvel kicked off Cap's new series with a major twist, and with comicbook stores open at midnight for DC's Rebirth event they opted to allow the sale of issue #1 early. This first issue featured Steve Rogers seemingly fitter and healthier than ever after having his body drained of the Super-Soldier serum that gave him his powers, but the issue's final page took the character to a place we never thought possible....Captain America is working with Hydra.

Since this morning, Marvel fans have been scratching their heads trying to deal with the revelation. We're led to believe that Rogers has been working with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s sworn enemies since he was a child (in return for their protecting his mother), but many believe this latest revelation is the result of some form of Red-Skull brainwashing. Though it may end up being a nothing more than a bit of trickery, Marvel fans aren't happy about it.

Marvel Editor, Tom Brevoort said that this move has been in the works since 2014 and he says that if fans want to go back and look for proof that Rogers has been working for Hydra all along, they'll find plenty of it in older issues. If Marvel fans are angry about this being a gimmick, just think how angry they'll be if this story continues much longer...
