Orphan Black Just Pulled a Jon Snow
Huge spoilers for Orphan Black season four follow!
It's been very fashionable in this television season to kill off beloved characters (or apparently kill off beloved characters), only to have them triumphantly return after their deaths have been mourned. These fake-out deaths have ranged from the relatively successful (Game of Thrones) to utterly ridiculous (Walking Dead). Where Orphan Black will fall in that spectrum remains to be seen, and will largely depend on the resolution of that big character return in next week's finale.
Just as we all hoped and prayed for, Delphine is alive. It doesn't come as too much of a surprise, since after all that teasing, it would have been pretty cruel if she were dead this entire time. (But then again, that didn't stop the Walking Dead from pulling that shit with Sophia, and that was appropriately devastating.) Although it's been nice to see Cosima develop as a character outside of her romantic life, I'm glad that Delphine is still alive, especially considering the Dead Lesbian Syndrome that has been in full force on television lately.
But where is she?? There was pretty much no indication of her location or who she's with, so the finale will have plenty of explaining to do. Since we don't know where she's been or what she's been doing, pretty much anything could happen, although there are probably two primary options. After the toppling of Evie Cho, there is a power vacuum in Neolution, which will likely be filled by Rachel or Susan. My money is on Rachel, since she seems to be out for blood after Evie's comment about clones in power. But Delphine is also a dark horse option, since she was the "new Rachel" once before. I love Cophine as much as the next person, but especially after Evie was a relatively lame villain, it would be fun to see Evil Delphine on our screens again.
