The Flash Season 3 Premiere Title Confirms Huge Comics Storyline
Spoilers for The Flash season 2 ahead!
Grant Gustin is so pumped about the season 3 premiere title, he can't hold it in anymore, and with good reason. For anyone who watched the season two finale, the title isn't particularly surprising, but it is incredibly exciting, as it confirms that season three will explore the Flashpoint storyline from the comics:
In the season two finale, Barry went back in time and saved his mother's life, which will presumably have many ripple effects on the current timeline. Fans of the comics immediately assumed that season 3 would adapt a version of the Flashpoint storyline, which takes place in a universe where Barry's mother is still alive, but this is the first official confirmation from any official source.
In the Flashpoint comics, Barry wakes up to find himself in a timeline where his mother is alive, his father is dead, and the entire world has basically been turned upside down. There is no Superman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman are at war with each other, and Captain Cold is Central City's greatest hero. While most of this likely won't be adapted directly, but considering that Wentworth Miller is set to be a recurring character this season, it's probably safe to say that some version of the latter will happen. And since both John Wesley Shipp is returning as Jay Garrick and Tom Cavanagh will be returning as a series regular, most likely as the original Earth-1 Harrison Wells, we're about to see some big changes up ahead.
The Flash season 3 premieres on October 4 at 8pm on The CW.
