Here's Your First Look at 'The Tick' Reboot
We're definitely living in the age of reboots, but one property that we still can't believe is getting a reboot is the quirky early 2000s Fox superhero comedy, The Tick. We've known for a while that Amazon was resurrecting the series, and now we've got our first look at just what it will look like.

Amazon has released a slew of new photos from the show, whose pilot will premiere on August 19, and they paint a very different-looking show than what Tick fans are used to. Here's what showrunner Ben Edlund had to say in Amazon's accompanying press release:

Opening quote
"This has been a labor of love for Amazon, Sony, and all of us. The only way for this to have value was if we found a wholly new expression of The Tick and Arthur's story in live-action, and I think we're on to something! Visually and thematically this new Tick lives in the textures and rhetoric of today's superhero saturation tsunami - and for it to be something you want to watch for hours, it needed to find its way to a story with heart and stakes, as well as absurdism. Is it a radically new hybrid of humor and super heroic action with characters you will care desperately about? YES! Yes it is."
Closing quote

Check out the gallery below, which showcase Peter Serafinowicz as the eponymous hero, Griffin Newman as his reluctant accountant sidekick Arthur, Brendan Hines as Superian, Yara Martinez as the evil-looking Ms. Lint, Jackie Earle Haley as big bad The Terror, and Whoopi Goldberg as... Whoopi Goldberg.

Judging by these photos, we can definitely say the reboot looks a lot more modern, with costume designs that are more in line with what we see from current superhero movies. But even though it looks somewhat generic, we're still hopeful that the show has kept the irreverent humor of its predecessor.
