Eli Roth Just Dropped a Bizarre Teaser For a Horror Film in Space
< >
What is Mission: Fear? That's what you'll be asking yourself after seeing this bizarre video director Eli Roth posted to his Twitter account. It appears to be a teaser for a horror film set in space coming in April 2017. The trailer teases Roth's other scary works, Cabin Fever and Hostel, and refers to the director as a "master of horror," but something about the video seems off.
The narration comes off almost like a parody. It's certainly not a voice one would hire to narrate a trailer in the classic sense (Don LaFontaine, where art though?), and even the script seems a little less than serious. At one point the narrator lazily half-copies Alien's famous slogan by saying, "In space... nothing can prepare you for... Mission: Fear!" It's really campy, and certainly doesn't feel like a real horror film. Also, at the beginning of the trailer, it states the preview was approved for all audiences by the "Motion Picture Association of Americah." Yes, that's Americah with an "H." It also includes the hashtag #Junketeers, of which a quick search on Twitter brought up nothing of note.

Despite the weird goofiness going on in the trailer, we're still intrigued. April 2017 is still a ways off, so if this were just some parody that Roth wasn't serious about, we don't think he'd be promoting it eight months ahead of time. We definitely hope it's a real movie, because how long has it been since there's been a legit scary movie set in outer space? The time has come to be afraid of the great beyond again, so we'll keep an eye out for more news related to Mission: Fear... whatever it is.
