Jared Leto Says A Lot of Joker Scenes Were Cut from Suicide Squad
It looks like Suicide Squad's director's cut might take on the same mythological significance as Batman v Superman's. According to Jared Leto, a longer cut might address one of the major complaints surrounding the latest DCEU film: that Joker's role was basically a glorified cameo.

Suicide Squad's first reviews were pretty terrible, and it's only gotten worse from there, eventually garnering a paltry 29% on Rotten Tomatoes. Many of the cast members have doubled down on defending the film, with Cara Delevingne saying critics "just don't like superhero movies" and both Will Smith and David Ayer insisting that it was made for the fans. Leto, for his part, revealed to Spanish language outlet Telestar (via Heroic Hollywood) that many scenes featuring his version of the Joker were cut from the film.
Opening quote
"There are a lot of scenes that didn't make it to the final film, hopefully they will see the light of day. Who knows," Leto said.
Closing quote

It makes sense that there's a different (and maybe better) cut of Suicide Squad out there, now that reports are coming out that Ayer and the studio had competing cuts of the film. We could have guessed that the ultimate or director's cut would solve the widely cited editing and tonal clash problems, but it looks like it may address the criticism that Joker had a perfunctory, insubstantial role as well.
