Trailer For 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' Teases Action-Packed End to the Franchise
< >
The most successful movie franchise based on a video game is, without a doubt, Resident Evil. The series has five films in its repertoire, each of which has grossed over $100 million at the box office. In all, the films have combined in $915 million in worldwide receipts, and is set to become the next franchise to join the one billion club with the release of its sixth and final film, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. That movie, out next January, has just released its first trailer, so let's take a look, shall we?

The film looks to be an epic conclusion to the franchise, as it will see Alice return to Raccoon City and encounter some people from her past (like Game of Thrones Iain Glen, returning to the franchise after a decade). Everything looks bigger than its predecessors, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the movie received a larger budget than the others in the series. Also notable is the look and pacing of the trailer. The sandy, fast-paced car chases immediately call to mind Mad Max: Fury Road, which definitely isn't a bad thing. Here's the film's official synopsis:

Opening quote
"Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice (Milla Jovovich) is the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity's final stand against the undead. Now, she must return to where the nightmare began – The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse."
Closing quote

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter hits theaters on January 27, 2017.
