Report: Stranger Things Beats Daredevil for Most-Watched Netflix Drama
Stranger Things has become a runaway hit, becoming one of the biggest summer shows for critics and fans alike. And if it seems like everyone you know is watching it: they are. According to a new estimate of Netflix's viewing figures, Stranger Things had 8.2 million viewers in its first sixteen days, shattering the previous record set by Marvel's Daredevil for most-watched Netflix drama.

We all knew that Stranger Things had become a huge hit, but since Netflix famously refuses to release ratings, there was no official confirmation that it was getting a ton of viewers. Now, ratings tracking company SymphonyAM (via Business Insider) has given their analysis as to Netflix's viewing figures, and Stranger Things blew everyone out of the water. At 8.2 million viewers in the first 16 days, it boasts more viewers than Marvel hits Daredevil and Jessica Jones, as well as buzzy critical darlings like House of Cards and Narcos. The only shows to receive higher ratings were Fuller House and the most recent season of Orange is the New Black.

And like Daredevil and Jessica Jones, Stranger Things is popular with critics as well as fans. The first season currently has a 94% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to an averaged 86% for Marvel's Daredevil (although the first season had a whopping 98%), and Jessica Jones' 93%.

A second season for Stranger Things hasn't yet been officially announced, but it's all but guaranteed. Netflix boss Reed Hastings has said that they "would be dumb not to" order a second season, and the Duffer brothers are clearly well into the planning stages, telling the press that season two will be a "sequel" and teasing resolutions to those cliffhangers.
