John Williams is Returning to Score Star Wars: Episode VIII in a Few Weeks Time
A John Williams score is more synonymous with the Star Wars universe than just about anything we can think of. Without the legendary composer's work, it's hard to imagine Star Wars being the Hollywood juggernaut it is today. After returning to the franchise for the first time in over a decade with The Force Awakens, tracks like Rey's Theme confirmed to Star Wars fans that, as long as he's still working, John Williams should be creating the score for every Star Wars movie going. Unfortunately, that sentiment didn't see its way to Williams scoring Rogue One: A Star Wars Story –that honor goes to the equally brilliant Alexandre Desplate– but we now know that the British composer will soon be working on the score for Star Wars: Episode VIII, taking his total tally up to, you guessed it, 8 Star Wars movies.

Such news won't be in the least bit surprising, but it sure as heck will be a relief for those who have fallen in love with this man's work. We already knew that Williams would return to the franchise, but as MassLive reports, Williams revealed this weekend that work would be starting on the score in just a few weeks.. Williams said that he accepted the invitation from LucasFilm President, Kathleen Kennedy, because he had become enchanted with Daisy Ridley's portrayal of Rey and he didn't want anybody else scoring her scenes.

So, as if you didn't love Daisy Ridley enough, we can now add getting John Williams to score Episode 8 to her growing list of geeky achievements.
