Jared Leto on Warner Bros. Contract Restrictions: "F*ck 'Em"
Jared Leto hasn't been shy about expressing his disappointment with the heavily edited theatrical cut of Suicide Squad which, among other things, reduced his Joker role significantly. At a recent fan event, he was even more explicit about his dissatisfaction, and in regards to his WB contract's lifestyle restrictions, he simply said, "F*ck 'em."

Leto has been critical of his reduced role in Suicide Squad, first saying that "a lot of scenes didn't make it into the final film", then saying that the number of cut scenes could be stitched together to make a Joker standalone movie, and even going so far as to say that the scenes might be released if he died young. This past weekend, he held an event called Camp Mars for fans of his music, and reportedly expressed consternation that Suicide Squad wasn't as "artistic" as he was originally led to believe. We don't have direct quotations from Leto, but a fan site on Tumblr posted (via Batman-News):

Opening quote
He was very honest about the film this weekend; his disappointment in what he's learned of the theatrical cut (he's still not seen the film); feeling sort of tricked into being a part of something that had been pitched to him very differently; thinking it would've been more artistic than what it became; feeling overwhelmed by the hate regarding the look and choices…

Then, when discussing the fact that Warner Bros. has certain stipulations in their contract, such as refraining from dangerous activities like rock climbing, Leto (who regularly posts pictures of himself rock climbing), said "F*ck em."

To be fair, he seems to be joking in the above video, and the four-letter words are specifically in reference to Warner Bros' lifestyle restrictions. Plus, there are no direct quotations in which Leto expressed frustration about Suicide Squad (at least not from this event). And the fan site, for their part, did not want this to be construed as proof of hostility on Leto's part. After deleting the original post, they wrote in a follow-up post:

Opening quote
I think it's highly problematic a media outlet such way Batman-News.com is sourcing someone's impressions posted on a tumblr account as some sort of fact - when no direct quotes from Jared were ever posted.

But, that being said, it does seem like there is bitterness between the actor and the studio, if only from his other statements. So make of this what you will. As the fan site elaborated:

Opening quote
It's no secret Jared feels disappointed in what ended up being the theatrical release of Suicide Squad. He's discussed this repeatedly in interviews during the promotional tour in London. This is the same sentiment he shared in moments during Camp Mars - however he did say he had a lot of fun creating the Joker and [he] needs more Joker as well.
