How Many Times Does Negan Swear in the The Walking Dead Season Six Blu-Ray? (Hint: A Lot)

When Negan was cast for The Walking Dead's sixth season, fans of the comics were wondering one thing: who the f*ck does he kill will the villain be able to swear the way he does in the comics? Unfortunately, the answer is obviously "no" for the broadcast version, since Negan drops an f-bomb literally every other word, but fans can rest assured that the uncensored Blu-ray version is 100% faithful. In the character's introduction alone, Negan drops the f-bomb no fewer than 23 times.

According to a sixth season Blu-ray write-up from THR, Negan swears just as often as he does in the comic. In the broadcast version, the dialogue was fairly faithful to the comics, but usually switched out the f-word for a less offensive swear word. For example, the iconic line, "I'm now going to beat the holy fuck fucking fuckety fuck out of one of you" became "I'm not going to beat the holy hell out of one of you." But luckily, the original line appears on the Blu-ray version in all its potty-mouthed glory.

Here's THR's final "fuck" count:

Fuck: 3
Fucked: 2
Fucking: 16
Fucker: 1
Fuckety: 1

This isn't the first time the Blu-ray has stayed faithful to the comics while the TV version has been forced to alter it for network rules. The famous line at the end of season four, "They're fucking with the wrong people," became "They're screwing with the wrong people" for the broadcast, but was uncensored on the Blu-ray. Now, the finale of season six will also contain more faithful versions of classic scenes from the comics, but honestly, there will be an even better reason to buy the season seven Blu-ray (at least if you haven't given up the show after that dumb cliffhanger). If TWD continues to produce two versions of Negan's scenes—a censored and uncensored version—then the entire season will look very, very different.
Opening quote
"There's no way [Negan] could drop that amount of f-bombs that he does in the comic on TV," showrunner Scott M. Gimple said earlier this year. "There's simply no way. In some way, it can't be full on, but as long as we have the full-on version, they will come out and people will be able to watch them. That to me was the most important thing, that the full-on Negan exists and it's available. What version gets on TV, that's down to experimentation. Jeffrey's performance is so amazing that I hope people aren't hanging on the fact that we aren't saying the f-word in that moment. Especially if they can watch it later. It comes down to either having it and censoring it out in some way or another or not having it. The one thing nobody wants to do is for it not being there to diminish the experience."
