Deadpool Creator on Cable Casting Rumors: "Everybody Calm Down"
The moment Deadpool 2 was officially confirmed (or, let's be honest, even before it was confirmed), the rumor mill has been working overtime to guess any and all developments in the film—most notably the casting for classic comics antagonist/ally Cable. And to all the fans that desperately want to know everything about the movie before it comes out, Rob Liefield has one piece of advice for you: "Everybody calm down."

In a new video interview with Nerdy Pop, Liefield says that while "nothing more important to [him] than Deadpool 2," as well as the portrayals of other characters he created, like Cable and Domino, he doesn't feel the need to interfere with production or even ask about casting possibilities. Since director Tim Miller did such a great job with the Deadpool character in the first film, he is firmly in the #InMillerWeTrust camp. And for the fans who react with anger because they want (or don't want) a specific actor cast, Liefield had this to say:

Opening quote
"I would just say, everybody calm down. My whole thing, I would have #TrustInTim, trust in Tim Miller the fantastic director, and trust in Ryan [Reynolds] our producer and genius performer, and Simon [Klingberg], and Rhett [Reese], and Paul [Wernick]. That's what I would say."
Closing quote

Most recently, it was rumored that Kyle Chandler was being considered for Cable, which was not received too well amongst fans, who had actors like Stephen Lang or Nathan Summers in mind for the role. As Deadpool and FNL fans, we would be ecstatic, because Kyle Chandler should be in everything, and Liefield seemed to agree with us:

Opening quote
"I don't know Kyle Chandler. I don't know him. I don't know if he's ever going to play Cable, but we would be so lucky to have an actor as talented as Kyle Chandler, who has been in Martin Scorsese movies… Kyle Chandler is one of the best actors in Hollywood. People trip over themselves to work with him. If, by chance that rumor was true and the production was lucky enough to get somebody as talented as him, I would just trust in the people that gave you Deadpool to figure that out for the best."
Closing quote

Liefield explicitly stated that he is out of the loop for casting decisions, so the fact that he doesn't know him doesn't necessarily mean anything. But the point is well-taken, and in general, the "everybody calm down" suggestion is great advice for all comic book fans (and all fans on the internet, for that matter).

Deadpool 2 is slated for a January 12, 2018 release date.
