Genetic Engineering Experiment Goes Horribly Wrong in New "Morgan" Teaser
< >
Is "Morgan" this year's "Ex Machina" or what? This genuinely scary teaser for the Ridley Scott-produced sci-fi thriller previews a genetic experiment that goes terribly, terribly wrong:

The teaser first explains the basic premise: scientists have created an engineered "perfect" being that grows rapidly (Anya Taylor-Joy's version of the character is supposed to be six months old). They managed to give the being sentience and emotions so they could "teach her the best of us," but that also means she goes through some pretty moody teenage years, to say the least. She also seems to have telekinetic powers, judging from previous clips, which only makes this teaser all the more frightening.

She's strangely not shown in the teaser (probably because she comes after the carnage), but The Martian and Fantastic Four's Kate Mara stars as a corporate consultant who investigates an accident involving Morgan. Paul Giamatti, Michelle Yeoh, Boyd Holbrook, Toby Jones, and Jennifer Jason Leigh also star.

Opening quote
A corporate troubleshooter (Kate Mara) is sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent "human," who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.
Closing quote

Morgan hits theaters on September 2.
