New Characters for Stranger Things Season 2 Include a Bad-Ass Young Girl
Spoilers for Stranger Things season one follow!
Stranger Things is officially coming back for season two, so that's the good news. But there's one question on everyone's mind: why the fuck wasn't anyone concerned about Barb will resident bad-ass Eleven come back for another installment? Ominously enough, there's a new "tough" young girl in town, and we're hoping she's not a replacement for our favorite waffle enthusiast.
The new character, named Max, is described by TV Line as a 12-14-year-old girl who rides everywhere on a skateboard. She's characterized as "tough and confident" and someone whose "appearance, behavior and pursuits seem more typical of boys than of girls in this era." She will likely be extremely important to the story, considering that the premiere episode will be called MadMax, according to the enigmatic season two teaser:
Of course, there should always be room for more strong female characters, but that often isn't the case, so this makes us very nervous for Eleven. The Duffer brothers said yesterday that it was "up in the air" whether she would return, which obviously mean she will eventually, but Max may be her de facto replacement for a portion of the season.
The other characters that have been revealed so far (three out of the four new characters that the Duffer brothers promised) are Max's "very muscular and hyper-confident" older brother Billy who drives a Camaro, and a gender-neutral character named Roman, who is in his/her thirties and is described as having "suffered a great loss at an early age and has been seeking revenge ever since." Could that tragedy refer to the "lost brother" of the season finale title?
Stranger Things returns for season two sometime in 2017.
