Billy Crudup Currently in Talks to Play Henry Allen in The Flash
Billy Crudup is no stranger to DC films, as he previously starred as Mr. Manhattan in the adaptation of Alan Moore's famous graphic novel, Watchmen. Now, seven years later, it looks like he may be rejoining the fold as a different DC character: Henry Allen, the father of the Flash.

Variety recently released an exclusive report stating that Crudup is "in talks" for the part at the moment. If he does take the part, that will make him the fourth Watchmen star to take a smaller role in the DCEU. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played the Comedian, also played Thomas Wayne in Batman v Superman. Likewise, Patrick Wilson, who played Nite Owl, was the voice of the President who gave the orders to launch the nukes during Superman's brawl with Doomsday. Just as well, Carla Gugino, the first Silk Spectre, voiced Kelor, the AI in Man of Steel. Now they just need to find roles Malin Akerman, who has already expressed her desire to play another superhero, and James Earle Haley.

The Flash seems to be shaping up quite nicely, with Ezra Miller starring as the Scarlet Speedster, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, and Rick Famuyiwa directing. The first glimpses of Miller in the role in Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, and the Justice League teaser seem more than promising, giving reason to be hopeful that The Flash will turn out to be one of the DCEU's hits.

Crudup will likely have a limited role in the film if these talks end well, but the CW was able to expand the role of Henry Allen in some pretty interesting ways for their TV show. So who knows? Crudup could end up being more instrumental in the movie than one would think if DC films decide to go a similar route to DC TV's.

There's still a few major roles to be cast for the film, including the primary villain. But with production set to begin by the end of this year, more casting confirmations could be coming at any time.

The Flash is set for release on March 16, 2018.
