First Casting News for the Punisher Netflix Series
After much acclaim and a huge fan campaign, Jon Bernthal's Punisher was finally given his own Marvel/Netflix series, which we should be seeing in the next couple of years. Now, we have our first concrete news about the series, as TV Line is reporting that English actor Ben Barnes has been cast in a mysterious antagonist role.

Barnes is best known for his role in the Chronicles of Narnia as Prince Caspian X, as well as the title character in 2009's Dorian Gray and Sam Adams in the miniseries Sons of Liberty. He doesn't have too many credits on the geek side of things, but that will change very soon, since he has a lead role in the upcoming HBO android drama, Westworld.

There's no official word on who Barnes is playing, but it's supposedly a villain, who is rumored to be Bobby Saint. Bobby Saint, played by James Carpinello in the 2004 movie, is a minor character who is mistakenly killed by Frank Castle, earning the ire of his mob boss father, Howard Saint (originally played by John Travolta). This is the only casting news we have so far-aside from Bernthal—although there was recently a rumor that the show was casting for Microchip.

The Punisher series doesn't have a release date yet, although it's been widely assumed to be 2018, after Iron Fist and Defenders next year. There have been rumblings that Marvel may release three series next year, including Punisher, but nothing official yet.
