It Looks Like Sony Is Getting Their Own Comic Book Cinematic Universe
< >
Sony Pictures is having a difficult time with their cinematic universes. Now that they're sharing Spider-Man with Marvel, have lost James Bond, and after their Ghostbusters reboot failed to turn a profit, the studio desperately needs a big franchise to compete with the MCUs and DCEUs of the world. And their hoping they've found it with Valiant Comics.

OK, maybe Valiant isn't as big a name in comics as Marvel or DC, but the label still has some interesting properties. According to The Wrap, Harbinger is set to be the first of five films in Sony's budding Valiant Comics movie universe. The film will be followed by Bloodshot, who will be introduced in the first film. For the uninitiated, Harbinger is about a group of superpowered teenage outcasts known as Harbingers, and the movie will focus mostly on telekinetic Peter Stanchek. Bloodshot, a super soldier who was given nanotechnological powers after being mortally wounded, will act as the villain in the first film before starring in his spinoff. Other characters and titles reportedly being considered for their own films are HARD Corps, Livewire, Generation Zero, and Faith, the plus-size heroine who became a phenomenon earlier this year.

No word yet on when these movies will see daylight, but the report claims Sony is fast-tracking them. Here's hoping it goes well for them.
