New Doctor Strange Trailer Explains Why The Avengers Won't Help Him Save the World
In the MCU, the world has almost come to an end several times, most recently when Ultron almost wiped out all of humanity. So where were the powerful sorcerers of the Kamar-Taj while everything was falling apart? According to this new Doctor Strange TV spot, they had bigger and better things to do.

This new trailer features several exciting moments, includingm Doctor Strange wielding a whip made of fire, Mads Mikkelsen's Kaecilius being as funny and charismatic as you'd expect, and a few more trippy sequences that convince us this movie is a mash-up of Batman Begins and Inception. It also shows Wong (Benedict Wong) explaining why the powerful sorcerers of the MCU have been MIA in all the previous crises, as he tells Strange, "The Avengers protect the world from physical dangers. We safeguard it against more mystical threats."

Kevin Feige basically gave the same explanation earlier today:
Opening quote
There are people inhabiting the same world that are stopping buildings from falling down, robots from doing this, aliens from doing that – these people in this movie are stopping inter-dimensional forces from wiping out all of reality. So although it doesn't necessarily come up, we've always assumed that the sorcerers have bigger fish to fry when they hear there's something in a city or there's a bank being robbed. They're not thinking about it. They're thinking if we don't keep vigilant our sense of reality will disappear, and there won't be a bank to rob and there won't be a city to be conquered.
