Fox Just Scheduled a Mysterious New Marvel Movie
Marvel's future at Fox is hardly a sure thing. With the exception of Deadpool and his upcoming sequel, the rest of the studio's comic book properties aren't looking so hot. Fantastic Four is dead in the water, and with the looming retirement of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and the underperformance of X-Men: Apocalypse, the X-Men franchise is currently a big question mark. But that hasn't stopped Fox from scheduling a mystery Marvel film.

IMAX and Fox announced today their new deal, which includes four "tentpole" films that will be screened in the large format theaters: Predator, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Alita: Battle Angel, and an untitled Marvel movie. So what could this Marvel movie be? The most likely candidates are the aforementioned Deadpool sequel (the statement does call out the success of the first Deadpool), the supposedly in-development New Mutants or X-Force movies, or even the long-delayed Gambit film starring Channing Tatum.

Or maybe it's something completely different. In addition to the X-Men and Fantastic Four, Fox owns the movie rights to several characters that go along with those properties. Perhaps Fox is looking to make their own Guardians of the Galaxy competitor with the Shi'ar Imperial Guard or the Starjammers. Or maybe Silver Surfer is getting a solo movie about his adventures across the universe. Or perhaps another X-Men offshoot, say X-Factor, will have their moment in the sun.

Whatever it is, we just hope it's not another Fantastic Four movie. Those rights really need to revert back to Marvel. Like, now.
