Let's Celebrate the Under-Appreciated "Edge of Tomorrow" with a Fun Infographic
Edge of Tomorrow (aka All You Need Is Kill, aka Live.Die.Repeat) suffered from a famously terrible marketing campaign and a generic title, but it was actually a great movie. In fact, it was one of the best sci-fi movies of that year, and maybe of this decade. To celebrate this underrated movie, let's have fun with this infographic that details exactly how many times the lead character was killed—on screen, at least.
Edge of Tomorrow

The image comes from graphic designer George Hatzis, and shows all the times Tom Cruise's character was killed in the movie. Hatzis describes the infographic as follows:

Opening quote
Edge of Tomorrow brought us a character enveloped in a time loop where he must face an alien enemy in a war the humans simply cannot win. For every death he suffers, he awakens back at a military base in Heathrow Airport, and must then continue his journey again and again.

Below is my infographic representing his on-screen death/loop cycle, and while there are many moments that suggest he has died many more times, this encapsulates those that were featured directly on-screen.
Closing quote

Edge of Tomorrow wasn't a commercial success initially, but has gained a cult following since its anticlimatic release. Hopefully, if we keep talking about it, we'll finally get that much-discussed sequel, Pacific Rim-style.
