Hasbro's NYCC Panel Just Revealed Never-Before-Seen 'Rogue One' Movie Characters!

It's that magical time of year again: New York Comic-Con! With Rogue One coming up this December, we wanted to get a jump on any new Star Wars reveals, including the toys. It's become common knowledge (and it may say something about Lucasarts, Disney, and the whole Star Wars franchise) that fans can rely on the associated Hasbro toy line to be a strong source of sneak peeks and spoilers, even more so than the trailers. And this year was no different: Hasbro's Fall preview gave some cool, exclusive looks at new characters and even plot points from Rogue One ahead of its release!

Two disclaimers: the photos included below are not professional, and the names of the characters may not have the correct spelling, since official announcements of some of the characters have not been released.

Here are the highlights:

Imperial Ground Crew

This is one of the new figures in the Imperial trooper 3.75'' line. Meant to be a commander of Stormtrooper ground forces, the Imperial Ground Crew conveys commands from higher-ups to the rank-and-file. A different version of this figure has been released, but this one is special. During the panel, it was shown that (beneath the helmet) the figure was actually Jyn Erso!

It was confirmed by the panelists that the Imperial outfit Jyn wears in the trailers is the uniform for an Imperial Ground Crewmember. This gives a pretty substantial hint at how Jyn sneaks into the Imperial facility to steal the Death Star Plans: impersonating the enemy and possibly smuggling herself aboard an Imperial ship.

Saw Gerrera

Forest Whitaker's character has been partially shown in photos, but always from the waist up. The action figure reveals something never before seen: a mechanical foot! Whitaker's character, Saw Gerrera, previously appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but it's not been revealed how Whitaker's version will differ from the TV version.

Admiral Radiss

According to the panelists, this character has not yet been revealed outside of the Hasbro toy line. One of the upcoming additions to the 3.75'' Rebels toy line is the blue Mon Calamari Admiral Radiss . During the panel discussion, it was revealed that Radiss comes from the same planet as Admiral Ackbar, Mon Calamar, but from a different part of it. Radiss' blue coloration reflects the cold climate in his region, and the action figure features a hinged jaw so he can open and close his mouth. New admiral! New traps!

Two Tubes

According to the panelists, this character has not yet been revealed outside of the Hasbro toy line. This character appears alongside the rest of the Rebel 3.75'' figure lineup, and was revealed by the panel to be a Tongathian , a completely new race. Appropriately, his name comes from the two tubes running up to his mouth, which allow him to breathe. Besides Two Tubes' long rifle, not much else is known about the character.

Body Brooks

According to the panelists, this character has not yet been revealed outside of the Hasbro toy line. He is described as a mechanic and a "Donatello"-type character with an affinity for machines. The backpack he wears helps him repair vehicles, along with an extendable hook.

So there you have it! Three new Rogue One characters and two new reveals about Saw Gerrera and Jyn Erso! We'll be keeping an eye out for these characters and more details in the next couple weeks!

Other highlights from the panel and Fall preview include:

The Rogue One Rebels Team

Here we have Baze Malbus, Chirrut Imwe, Body Brooks , and Admiral Radiss all together!

The Scarif Trooper Commander

A slightly higher ranked version of the previously revealed Scarif trooper. Note the different blue stripe across the chest plate-it denotes a higher status.

Director Krennic

An extremely detailed 6'' figure of Ben Mendelsohn's character, Director Krennic, was created by actually scanning the actor's face.

The Definitive Episode IV Darth Vader

Based off of the original props from Episode IV: A New Hope, the Hasbro team claims that this is the "definitive" Darth Vader of all the versions they've produced so far. Lovingly detailed, with "no gimmicks," it has the original red-tinted eyes and Vader's saber.

Thanks to everyone on the panel, NYCC 2016, and all the folks at Hasbro!
