Is Wonder Woman Bisexual in the New Film?
Wonder Woman comic book writer Greg Rucka recently caused a bit of a stir when he floated the idea that the character has had same sex relationships. After all, she grew up on an island with only other women around, so it's only logical to assume that gay relationships were common, and that Diana Prince would be attracted to women. But will this facet of her personality make it into the Wonder Woman movie?

Don't count on it. Variety recently asked star Gal Gadot if the film addresses the heroine's sexuality in any sort of non-traditional way, and while the actress doesn't completely shoot down the possibility that Wonder Woman is gay, we're not going to see it in this movie. Here's what she said:
Opening quote
"It's not something we've explored. It never came to the table, but when you talk theoretically about all the women on Themyscira and how many years she was there, then what he said makes sense. In this movie she does not experience any bisexual relationships. But it's not about that. She's a woman who loves people for who they are. She can be bisexual. She loves people for their hearts."
Closing quote

So there you go. The movie won't address Wonder Woman's sexuality, outside of her presumed relationship with Steven Trevor, but as far as Gadot is concerned, she could still be bisexual even if the movie doesn't come right out and say it. We've still yet to see a mainstream superhero portrayed as gay on the big screen, but maybe that day will come if Wonder Woman gets a sequel.
