And in other fan favorite news, Joss Whedon wants to make a Star Wars anthology movie. Let's make this happen, please!
The Force Awakens special edition 3-D Blu-ray, coming out next month, has given us lots of behind-the-scenes intel, including insight into Rey's flashback, which is actually called a "Forceback," reshoots that made that Rey/Kylo Ren duel even more awesome (and included a shot suggested by Ava DuVernay), director's commentary on Han Solo's death scene, and a new Chewie-heavy deleted scene.
In a new interview with Vulture, Daisy Ridley strongly implied that we would find out the answer to Rey's parentage in Episode VIII. And Hitfix's Drew McWeeny released this mysterious tweet about Episode VIII's vibe:
A friend who works in STAR WARS world said this in passing about EPISODE VIII: "Are you a fan of the Dagobah tree dream scene? Good." ??????— DrewMcWeeny (@DrewMcWeeny) October 14, 2016
That was his way of describing the film's "vibe." He said it is its own thing, didn't really feel like a "normal" SW film. Seemed excited.— DrewMcWeeny (@DrewMcWeeny) October 14, 2016
In other Episode VIII news, after the "Where's Rey?" controversy, Daisy Ridley says that Lucasfilm has learned their lesson, and will include a "stronger presence" for Rey in the sequel's merchandise.
Mads Mikkelsen revealed more about his Rogue One character's motivations in an interview with IGN, and USA Today released an excerpt from YA tie-in novel Rogue One: Catalyst. Plus, Pablo Hidalgo doubled down on his answer to whether Jyn and Rey are related:
@fassbendy No one's asked. They're not related.— Pablobot Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) April 10, 2016
