Shane Black Shares New Predator Details
We were already pretty excited for Shane Black's reboot of the Predator franchise, mainly because it's Shane Black and the Predator, but now the writer/director is dropping some hints about the film that have us even more pumped.

Speaking to Collider, Black had this to say about the tone of The Predator, and it certainly sounds like something that's going to honor the original film while also injecting some modern fun into the franchise:
Opening quote
"I think the Predator movies have slightly veered from typical sci-fi in that there is a sort of thriller aspect to them. I think it should be scary, I think it should be funny, and I think ultimately it should be wondrous and about perceiving things that human beings very seldom get a chance to see… I don't mean movie audiences I mean characters in the movie. I'm not saying the movie will be nothing anyone's seen before."
Closing quote

As for the characters in the movie, don't expect a bunch of pro wrestlers this time around.
Opening quote
"I think it'll be interesting to get a group of credible guys - the hallmark of the first one is you have guys together that are kinda funny and self-referential and also very tough. I don't know that we're going to deviate over much from that, but there are at least a couple of factors that we've deliberately chosen to make it not just that group of buff, tough guys."
Closing quote

Does this mean no Jesse Ventura this time around? We're glad to hear that Black won't stray too far from the original's cast formula, since that's part of what made it so fun, but throwing in a couple of wild cards with the rough riders seems like a solid direction to go in. As long as Dutch shows up at least for a cameo, we'll be happy.
